Shalom! I’m Heather and here is my summarized faith story!
I grew up in a Christian home and went to church, Sunday School, Bible school, etc. for as long as I can remember. This didn’t make me a believer but, at some point in lower elementary, I started to understand the gift of Faith that was offered to me and I accepted Jesus into my life.
I attended St. Olaf College (Um, Yah, Yah!) in Minnesota and married my college sweetheart, Karl. My first degree is in vocal music education, K-12. I taught elementary music while my hubs attended medical school & residency. I taught Montessori music while my 3 kiddos were in preschool. I created and directed musicals for middle & high school at my church to raise money for the youth ministry to go on mission trips. This was followed by leading & teaching for Bible Study Fellowship. All this said, teaching and the Bible have been underlying themes throughout my life.
Of course, things changed for all of us during COVID shutdown. I worried that I would be bored, so decided to start my master’s degree at The King's University Seminary. Why not, right? When public life began reopening, and people began to enter society again, I was still studying - for almost 3 more years! May 2023, I graduated with my MPT-MJS; Master of Practical Theology with a Messianic Jewish Studies concentration. What a relief!
This journey was life changing, hard, incredible, excruciating, and altogether transformative. I learned to read Scripture in a new way, incorporating original languages, original cultures, the Jewish people, all while loving our Sovereign God even more! I saw more clearly the plight of the ancient Jewish people, different contexts within the Hebrew language, and how to better understand Jesus’ teachings with the original Jewish messages.
I cannot wait to share my love of the Bible and of the LORD with each of you!
